Between Audrey and James they were blessed with 9 children, 26 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 4 great-great -grandchildren. Audrey was born and raised in Brandon, her earlier years were spent being actively involved in her love of sports. Mom loved to tell us stories of her speed skating and passion for baseball earning medals in both. Mom and her friend Lillian Hawkins loved helping her mother Caroline arrange dances and teas for the service men and women in the Air force & Army during World War II. Mom and Lillian were young teenagers who dutifully wrote hundreds of letters to servicemen overseas as their part in the war efforts. She later married the love of her life" Sapper" James Brown right after the war. Audrey attended school at Alexandra School, Earl Oxford and St. Michaels Catholic School. After starting her career working at The Brandon Mental Hospital mom went onto achieving her goal of becoming a nurse's aide and started her employment in The Brandon Nursing Home for many years before moving on to Hill Crest Nursing Home until her retirement. It was while she was working nights as an aide that mom found a love of crocheting. Mom’s favorite pastime for many years was her love of bingo and bowling and the joy of socializing that came with it. After retirement, she travelled to many places, visiting her children and school chums. Our memories of mom are filled with her quick wit, her uncanny humor, her love of jive dancing, music and her beautiful smile. She lived life to the fullest and was a strong independent woman with a desire to live. We will always love and honor you mom, you were the thread that held us together and the cornerstone of our lives. You are forever tucked away in our hearts and minds.
