MURRAY: Mr. James R. Jim Murray of Brandon, formerly of Lyleton, passed away at the Brandon Regional Health Centre on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the age of 92. Jim was the third child born to Mr. and Mrs. Baird and Laura Murray on the home farm at Lyleton, MB. He farmed at 27-1-28 from a young age as his father was not well and his older brother Clarence had gone to serve in the Royal Canadian Navy. He married his love Elaine Bird from Elva, MB. in September of 1944. The couple farmed and raised their family until they retired into Lyleton. In 2004 they relocated to Brandon. Jim is survived by one daughter Gwen (Don) Lawrence of Edmonton, AB; three sons: Fred (Dawn) of Red Deer, AB, Ivan (Myrt) of Burlington, ON and Neil (Cindy) of Virden, MB; ten grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren; sister Pearl (Ralph) Skaien of White Rock, BC; two sisters-in-law: Betty Murray and Joyce Murray and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Elaine in 2011; parents, Baird and Laura (Davidson) Murray; sister Kathryn Hayden; two brothers: Clarence and Norris. The funeral service will be held at the Lyleton United Church, Lyleton, MB on Friday, August 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with (Rev.) Heather Sandilands officiating. The burial will follow at the Lyleton Cemetery. Donations in memory of Jim may be given to the Lyleton United Church, Box 10, Lyleton, MB, R0M 1G0.
