ARBUCKLE: Kenneth Eldon. July 2nd, 1942 - August 17th, 2016. On August 17th, 2016 Ken passed away surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his wife Merle of 51 years and his three sons. Scott (Beth), granddaughters Sarah and Kate, Tim (Shauna), granddaughters, Mackenzie and Taylor and Kelly (Amanda), granddaughters Lily, Pyper and grandson Graydyn Brown. Ken was born in Brandon, Manitoba and grew up on a farm in the area of Justice, Manitoba. He was the son of Hubert and Mary Arbuckle and a little brother for his sister Elsie (Lloyd) Franklin and later a devoted uncle to Raymond (Donna), Karen (Bob) Downing, Colleen (Lane) Reid, and Trinda (Barry) Rabe. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Linda (Keith) Gordon and Kathy (Dwain) Davis of Arcola, Saskatchewan and many special nieces and nephews. Growing up, Ken attended school and church in Justice, Manitoba. He was very active in the community and and was a member of the 4-H Club. Ken also enjoyed sports such as baseball, slow pitch, golf, waterskiing and curling. On July 2nd, 1966 he started his career with Canadian Propane which later became ICG Propane. In the late 80's Ken started Independent Gas Service with his three sons and played an active role in the company until he passed. Ken was predeceased by his parents Hubert and Mary, his nephew Raymond Franklin, Merle's parents William and Florence McKinnon and brother-in-law Keith Gordon. A Memorial Service will be held at Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 RR 232, Sherwood Park, AB, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 10:00 am. According to Ken's wishes, a graveside service will be held at Humesville Cemetery, near the farm where he grew up, at a later date. Donations in Ken's memory are gratefully accepted to the Firefighter's Burn Treatment Unit, University of Alberta Hospital, 8440-112th Street, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2B7 or Health Sciences Centre Burn Unit, 820 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB, R3A 1R9 or a charity of your choice.
