TOWNSEND: David Terry Jethro Townsend, beloved husband of Donna Townsend, passed peacefully into the arms of his loving Saviour on Friday, August 19, 2016 at the Brandon Regional Health Centre, at the age of 69 years. Dave was born in Maryville, Tennessee, the oldest of three children born to Bud and Louise Townsend on June 5, 1947. After graduating from high school in Maryville, Dave joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in both Pensacola, Florida and Hawaii. Moving to Canada after being discharged, Dave moved to Brandon, Manitoba where he met and married Donna, his wife of 35 years. It was here in Brandon, that he began work for Coca-Cola as a delivery truck driver, then as a sales representative for various autobody paint supply businesses over the years and finally as a shuttle driver for Kelleher Ford. As a long time member of Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, Dave experienced joy in his relationship with Jesus and was actively involved in a number of different leadership roles in the church, the youth group and Awana and in earlier years, the Boy Scouts. Dave was an avid car enthusiast who loved pin striping and painting anything from vehicles to motorcycles and even a walker. This enthusiasm gave him the determination to restore several vehicles including a 1963 Chevy Nova and plans to restore others. His Harley Davidson motorcycle was a source of enjoyment which he loved to ride. Other interests included Nascar, football, and fishing but above all family time was most important and he thoroughly enjoyed the time he could spend with his children and grandchildren. Dave will be lovingly remembered by his wife Donna; children David (Rachel) of Brandon, Chris of Lethbridge, AB and Becky (Jason) Salmond of Windham Centre, Ontario; eight grandchildren; brother Dennis (Suzie) of Townsend, Tennessee and sister Laura (Eugene) Deal of Maryville, Tennessee, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents and a niece, Katie Deal. The funeral service will take place at Faith Fellowship Baptist Church, 4 Willowdale Crescent, Brandon on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. Viewing will be held at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. and at the Church prior to the service from 12:15 p.m.-12:50 p.m. Pastor Dan Cavey will officiate.
