NELSON: Mary Mable Nelson (nee: Kraeker) of Brandon, MB passed away peacefully on July 8, 2016 with her loving family by her side. Mary was born in the RM of Stanley (Morden) on June 14, 1939. Mary met Carl Nelson in Carberry and they were married June 15, 1957 at the Carberry United Church. Her family grew to four sons which she loved and lived for. She really enjoyed taking and watching her sons play various sports such as baseball, basketball, volleyball and hockey. Mary enjoyed helping others that required assistance with little fanfare or recognition, and was the original member of the Lioness Club in Morden, MB. She liked camping but later on really enjoyed the family cottage that was built by family and friends at Pelican Lake. Mary enjoyed hobbies such as knitting, crocheting, board games, puzzles and numerous card games. She always looked forward to and enjoyed the times the whole family would get together - including the old time dances at community halls. Carl and Mary moved from Morden to Brandon in 1979 where Carl found work as a sales person which created the need for him to travel much of the time. During this time Mary kept busy working at the bakery in the Town Centre and later on joined Carl working along side him as a custodian with the Rolling River School Division at Forrest, MB. After her retirement in 2000, she became a member of the Auxiliary A-Team of the Daly House Museum for many years. Mary is survived by her loving husband Carl; son Warren (Loretta); son Brad (Carol); son Terry (Marlene); son Rod (Kathy). She also has seven grandchildren: Sherri (Jeff); Jason (Pam); Andrea (Dan); Thomas; Kayla, Mark; Andrew; and four great-grandchildren: Oliver and Graham; Ethan and Harper. Mary has three brothers and one sister: Lawrence Kraeker of Killarney, MB; Barry Kraeker of Morden, MB; Douglas Kraeker of Edmonton, AB; and Judy Kristiansson (Kraeker) of Medicine Hat, AB. Mary was buried at the Carberry Cemetery on July 15, 2016. She was greatly loved, honoured, respected and will be sadly missed by all those who knew her.
