PATTERSON: Peacefully, with her family by her side, Charlene Linda Patterson (nee Vogt), passed away on Friday, August 26, 2016, at the Brandon Regional Health Centre. Born September 9, 1948 in Neepawa, Manitoba, Charlene began school in Edrans and continued her education in Brandon, graduating from BCI in 1967. Her first job was a waitress at Beacon lunch. She later worked at Perkins Restaurant, Perths Dry Cleaners and, for the past fourteen years, at Accurate Cleaners. As a teenager, when not babysitting, Charlene spent a lot of time at her aunt and uncle's farm. Many nights, in her younger years, were spent playing bingo. In later years, when not out walking her special companion, her dog, Lucky, Charlene loved doing crossword and sudoku puzzle books, reading the entire Brandon Sun and listening to CKLQ. She enjoyed travelling and visited places such as Ontario, BC, various places in the United States and London, England. In 1972, Charlene married Richard Patterson. They had two children, Brian in 1976 and Wendy in 1980. Family camping trips provided many memories when the kids were young. Remaining to cherish Charlene's memory are her son Brian (Kylie) of Regina; daughter Wendy (Ray) of Winnipeg and three granddaughters Brooklyn, Ella and Meghan. Also surviving are her brother Randy (Deb) of Edrans and families; sister Lori (Calvin) of Forrest and families; Richard of Brandon; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Reinhard and Ada Vogt and grandson Lochlan. The Ceremony to Celebrate Charlene's Life will take place at Memories Chapel, 330 18th Street North, on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow. An Interment Service will be held at the Edrans Cemetery, Edrans, Manitoba at 3:00 p.m. Urn bearers are son Brian and daughter Wendy. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Cancer Care Brandon, and the staff at Palliative Care in the Assiniboine Centre for the care and compassion shown to Charlene and family. Donations in memory of Charlene may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation for "Western Manitoba Cancer Centre" or "Palliative Care", 150 McTavish Avenue East, Brandon, Manitoba R7A 2B3 or to the Brandon Humane Society, 2200 17th Street East, Brandon, MB R7A 7M6.
