DELL (MUNRO): Sadly we announce the accidental passing of Mary Evelyn Dell on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the age of 93 years. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Presbyterian Church in Melita, MB. with Rev. Barb Alston officiating. Evelyn is survived by her three daughters, Ann DEon (Jim Penney), Joy Dell, and Jean (Craig) Mackie; six grandchildren: Michelle, Crystal (Jason), Roy (Amy), Neil, Daesha, and Kristen (Craig); and eight great-grandchildren: Rachelle, Alexis, Quinn, Aiden, Jade, Shelby, Emma Lee, and Colton. Evelyn was born in Melita, MB. on May 1, 1923. She was the first of four children born to Alexander and Mary Munro. She completed her education at Melita School and went on to teachers college in Winnipeg. She taught in many rural schools throughout Manitoba including Belfry, Peninsula, and Wicks. While boarding at The Dells she met Jim and they were married July 23, 1951. Evelyn much enjoyed family times and gatherings. She spent many hours writing letters and notes to friends and family about her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Evelyn was the ultimate family historian. If anyone had a question about birthdays, anniversaries, or how someone was related to someone else, you called Evelyn. She was very proud of her Scottish heritage. Her hobbies included crocheting, knitting, sewing and gardening. After 40 years of farming in Pierson, Manitoba and the Gainsborough, Saskatchewan area, Jim and Evelyn moved to Melita. At this time Evelyn became very involved in the Melita Presbyterian Church. She walked everywhere and her visits up town brought her much pleasure. Due to failing health she resided for a short time at both the Melita Valleyview Lodge and the Notre Dame Foyer. The interment will be at the Melita Cemetery following the service. Lunch will then take place at the Melita Golden Age Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Melita Cemetery Fund, Box 429, Melita, MB, R0M 1L0 or the Melita Presbyterian Church, Box 959, Melita, MB, R0M 1L0. Arrangements in care of Redpath Funeral Home, Melita, MB. (204) 522-3361. Neil Redpath and Kurt Ardron Funeral Directors. To send messages to the family please visit: www.redpathfuneralhome.com
