BRAY: Richard Merton (Mert) Bray, August 27, 1925 - September 23, 2016. In loving memory of Mert Bray, who was born in Alexander, Manitoba and lived most of his life in Brandon with his beloved wife, Shirley and children Reg and Sandy. In his early years, Mert farmed in the Alexander area and continued to do so while building a successful career as Sales Manager in the automobile industry. Mert and his family were faithful and active members of St. Matthews Cathedral. From a young age, Mert was an avid curler and could always find the button! He enjoyed working on many Hosting Committees. Mert was a Honorary Life Member of the Wheat City Curling Club, Manitoba Champion Canadian Order of Foresters in 1967 and Manitoba Masters Champion in 1997. Leisure summer passions were golf and gardening. Mert will always be remembered for his great sense of humour that made him so much fun to be around. He was a very kind and thoughtful person and will be greatly missed. Mert was predeceased by his father Louis, mother Constance, brother Reg, sister Eleanor, brother Harry, and daughter-in-law Judy Bray. He is survived by wife Shirley, son Reg, daughter Sandy (Tim), as well as grandsons Cary (Jeannie), Tyler (Katherine), Joel (Jamie) and Kelly (Laura) and great grandchildren Willa, Sloane and Jude. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada would be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Auburn Heights Chapel in Calgary on Sunday, October 2, 2016.Only the BestA heart of gold stopped beating Two shining eyes at rest, Broken are our hearts to prove He only takes the best.God knows you had to leave us But you did not go alone,For part of us went with you The day He took you home.To some you are forgotten To others, part of the past, But to us who loved and lost you Our memories will always last.
