MERNER: Marjorie Elisabeth Merner (Nee Curle). With sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother Marjorie Merner, with her family by her side on September 30th, 2016. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.Marjorie is survived by Edna (Russ) Krosney, Greg (Maureen Morrison), Terry (Ingrid), Sandra (Bill) Thickson, Brian (Karen), Brad (Gloria Merner), Sisters Phylis Bray and Maxine Clark, sixteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Addison Merner, brother Charlie Curle, sister Doris Scarrow, sons Roy Merner and Randy Merner, and grandsons, Darren Krosney and Sean Thickson. Marjorie and Addison were married September 1941. They moved to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and Scrieber, Ontario before settling in Winnipeg in the Elmwood area where they raised their family. Mom’s career spanned over years of employment at Women’s Pavilion on the maternity ward. Her career extended to returning to Red River College at age 50. She graduated in Social Services. Employed at Family Services until her retirement. Her family was very important and she made many friends over her lifetime. Marjorie enjoyed conversation, music and travelling. The family would like to thank the staff at the Concordia Place for their care and compassion. Viewing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, with a Memorial Service on Friday, October 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm both will be held at Klassen Funeral Home. There will be a private family interment at Elmwood Cemetery.
