MILNE: Robert Earl. Suddenly on Friday, September 23, 2016, Earl passed away at the age of 78 years. He leaves to mourn his loving wife Maureen (Godlien). Earl is survived by his sisters-in-law Delia Milne and Angie Godlien, brother-in-law Garnet Hyndman, nephews Kevin, Geoff, Brad and Arnie, nieces Debe, Seanna and Kim, and great-nieces and nephews. Earl was predeceased by his parents Bob and Ellen Milne, brother Leslie, parents-in-law Melvin and Ruby Godlien, sister-in-law Leeann and brother-in-law Bruce. Earl spent his entire life in the idyllic setting of Lavinia. At an early age he became familiar with hard work helping his father with raising mink and doing carpentry work. This became his lifes work and through it he became a Mr. Fix-it never afraid to tackle a repair. Music was always a part of his life - playing in Milnes Orchestra. He was an avid hunter and fisher and knew his way to many favorite small lakes. He was a spectator of sports, but his all-time favorite TV sport was curling, and yes he did watch WWF Wrestling! Though Earl and I were not blessed with children, family was very important. He followed with interest, the careers of his nephews and nieces. But it was the great-nieces and nephews who brought him joy as he watched their play. Central to Earls life was his membership in A.A. not only did it offer him a life of serenity, it embraced him in a fellowship of lasting friendships. For 54 years, Lavinia was our home, but health issues and aging necessitated our move to Hamiota. Earls time in our new place was short, but he was relieved that we were settled. A Celebration of Life was held on Wednesday, September 28th, at Hamiota United Church with Rev. D. Martindale officiating. Eulogies were delivered by Geoff Milne, Kevin Hyndman, and Terry Hillis. Lunch and a time of fellowship followed at Hamiota Community Centre. Interment was at Scotia Cemetery. To the world, he was just one person. To this one person, he was the world.Rest well, my love.
