BYSKAL: Lena Byskal was born September 30th, 1922. Lena passed away on Saturday, October 22nd at the Sandy Lake Personal Care Home at the age of 94 years. She was predeceased by her husband (Peter Byskal), her daughter (Janet Kosc), daughter-in-law (Mary Ann Byskal), parents (Sophie and John Soltys), her brothers (Steve, Pete, Fred and Andrew Soltys), her sisters-in-law/brothers-in-law (Mary, Nellie, Ada and Tom, Rosie and Edward and Anne), and her niece (Marilyn). Left to mourn are her sons (Lester and Dennis), sisters- in-law (Anne Soltys, Annie Soltys, Olga Soltys), seven grandchildren (Christopher, Melissa, Ryan, Daniel, Nicholas, Lisa, Jeffrey) and their families, nine great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Lena grew up in Ozerna and Erickson, MB. Lena farmed all of her life with Peter and their family. Lena found great joy in preparing family dinners during the holiday season as well as being a devoted church member. She had numerous hobbies and was remarkably capable and strong willed. She will be missed by family and friends. Prayers, funeral and interment services will be held on Saturday, October 29th, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ozerna, Manitoba. Father Emil Kardasinec will officiate. Rae’s Funeral Service of Shoal Lake, Manitoba in care of arrangements. 204-759-2160.
