HUNT: (Agnes) Mary, July 9, 1940 to November 10, 2016. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our dear mother and grandmother, Mary at the age of 76. Mary passed away with sons Rodney and Richard by her side at Douglas Care Home, Victoria, BC, after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Bert (July 18, 2013). She is survived by her sons Rodney and Richard, grandchildren Jennifer and Tyler, and siblings Les, Marg and George. Mary was born in Brandon, MB on July 9, 1940 to Evelyn and Harold Haggerty. Before starting a family, Mary worked at Brandon Mental Health Centre, where she met Bert. Mary and Bert were married on March 18, 1961. In 1973, they moved their family to Victoria, BC, where Mary worked as a homemaker, and dedicated mother and grandmother, and for a short time as a part-time care aide at Gorge Road Hospital. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching, and was a life-long sports fan. Mary was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her strength of character and resilience throughout her illness was an inspiration. She will be deeply missed. The family expresses our thanks to VIHA and the kind and caring staff at Berwick Royal Oak and Trillium Care Communities, most notably for the compassionate care she received at Douglas Care. We are all deeply appreciative of every kindness provided to make her more comfortable and ease her passing. A memorial tea and celebration of life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Thursday, December 8th at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.
