PARENT: Geraldine Patricia Parent (née KERR) born December 12, 1926, passed away on Friday December 16, 2016 with her family at her side. Gerry was born in Brandon and attended Fleming School, St. Michaels Academy, and St. Ann's Academy in Victoria, British Columbia. As a young lady she was very involved with figure skating, an interest she maintained her whole life. She married Joe Whitehead and together they had one son, Murray. Joe died in 1953 and in 1956 she met and married Richard Parent and together they had one son, Donald. Because of Richard's work with the government they traveled to, and lived in, many different countries including: Germany, France, Belgium and Sweden, and on Richard's retirement, returned to Brandon to enjoy their children and grandchildren. Gerry was predeceased by her parents John and Daisy Kerr; her brother John C. "Jack" Kerr and wife Betty; first husband Joe Whitehead in 1953, and her second husband Richard Parent in 2006. She will be deeply missed by her sons: Murray Whitehead (Darlene Wilk) and Donald Parent (Norma Terrick); grandchildren: Kyle Whitehead (Amie), Estevan, Saskatchewan; Scott Whitehead (Andrea McDougald), Regina, Saskatchewan; step-grandchildren Erika Tkatchuk (Neil) and Alexander Wilk, Regina, Saskatchewan, and great-granddaughters Aurora, Celia, Trulie and Lily; sisters-in-law: Pauline LaBelle and Rita Parent of Gatineau, Quebec; brother- in-law Paul Parent of Ottawa, Ontario and numerous nieces and nephews in Quebec and British Columbia. She will be especially missed by her grand-puppy Charley who brought huge smiles to her face every day. The wonderful care given to Gerry by the East Wing staff at Rideau Park Personal Care Home allowed everyone more time to enjoy her strength and wit a little longer and is sincerely appreciated. A private family graveside service will be held. Flowers are gratefully declined.
