RAWLINSON: Norma Rawlinson (nee Bugg) of Melita, MB passed away at the Souris Personal Care Home, Souris, MB on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the age of 91. Norma was predeceased by her husband Les in 2008; her son Bill in 1991; five sisters: Edna, Elma, Pearl, Ida and Mabel; five brothers: Harold, Lorne, Ken, Art and Charlie. Norma is survived by her daughter Linda (Gary) Maxwell of Ninette; two grandchildren: Jeff (Michelle) Maxwell of Forrest and Jodi (Steve) Maurice of Boissevain; four great-grandchildren: Charley and Georgia-Rae Maxwell and Morgan and Carter Maurice. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law: Elsie Ruttan, Lois Bugg and Audrey Bugg and many nieces and nephews. She was born on a farm near Lauder on December 4, 1925 to Otto and Bertie Bugg. In 1928, the family moved to a farm two miles south of Napinka. Norma grew up there and attended school in Napinka. In 1944, she married Les Rawlinson and moved into the family farm five miles north of Melita. Les and Norma worked together on the farm until 1976 when they retired to Melita. After Les passing, Norma moved to the Melita Lodge where she lived comfortably with the help of Home Care. In 2014, Norma moved to the Souris Personal Care Home where she received excellent care and had three rewarding years enjoying the activities and social interaction. She was an active member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Hospital Health Auxiliary for many years. She worked for many years at the United Church Thrift Shop. Les and Norma visited Victoria during the winter months when health permitted and travelled to eastern Ontario several times to visit family. They also travelled to Florida with the family, visiting Disney World, Sea World, Cypress Gardens and the beaches of Clearwater Bay. The funeral service will be held from Victoria United Church, Melita on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Barb Alston officiating. Interment at the Melita Cemetery will take place at a later date.
