VOLK: Jean Maltby (Volk), January 24, 1914- February 16, 2017. It is with deep sadness we say goodbye to our dear mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great- great-grandmother. Jean passed away at Stensrud Lodge, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at the age of 103 years. She will be dearly missed by her daughter Joan (Steve), daughter-in-law Norma, eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Jean had a strong Christian faith which showed in her personality; she was a supportive, kind and gentle soul, she walked daily with the Lord. May all of our beautiful memories with mom and grandma console us all as our loved one rejoices with the Lord. She loved people and enjoyed entertaining. She loved to bake and was a wonderful cook as many of her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews can attest to her wonderful meals. Jean was predeceased by her first husband of 40 years, Howard Maltby, her second husband, Phil Volk (1992-1996), her son, Barry Maltby, her parents, and she was the last of 10 children. A Funeral Service will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Glenn Paddock officiating. Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com.
