SORENSEN: Gordon George Sorensen. April 3, 1931 – March 31, 2017. Born at Mather, MB, also of Wawanesa, MB, Regina, SK, and High River, AB, passed away at the High River Hospital on Friday, March 31, 2017. Gordon is survived by his wife Sheila, daughters Debra (Jim) Paton and their daughters Sheila Paton and Amanda (Jeremy) Holland, and their daughter Kaylee. Elaine (Larry) Henderson and their children Tom and Ayleigh. Heather (Grant) Barkman and their children Eric and Sarah, and son Grant Sorensen. Gordon is also survived by his sisters Lois (Raymond) Vincent and Noreen Hicks, niece Karen Hill, and sister-in-law Mavis Sorensen and is pre-deceased by his parents Tedd and Hazel, his brothers Ole (Ida) and Bob, his sister Ruth (Elvis) Mullin, and brother-in-law Larry Hicks. In 1950, Gordon went to Wawanesa, MB to work for the Wawanesa Mutual Insurance Company. This led to a 40 year career in claims adjusting and marketing, driving over a million miles, and making many friends. Gordon enjoyed many sports, including baseball, track, curling, and golf. For over 10 years, he enjoyed golfing and marshaling at D'Arcy Ranch Golf Club and the past few years, enjoyed his time and fellowship at the Highwood Golf & Country Club. However, hismost meaningful time was spent with his children, sons-in-law, grandchildren, and great grandchild. A private family remembrance will be held.
