Phyllis TOLTON

TOLTON: Phyllis Noreen Tolton, formerly of Newdale, Manitoba passed away March 10, 2017 at the Minnedosa Personal Care Home. Phyllis was born November 2, 1926 to Harry and Molly Davies of Otterburne, Manitoba. She completed her high school education at the St. Pierre Convent. On September 29, 1945 she married Garnet Tolton and together they started farming alongside two brothers Wallace and Clayton in the Otterburne West District. In 1961 the family moved to Newdale. They continued farming at Newdale until 1981 when they moved into town. Phyllis was very involved in the community belonging to the Curling Club, United Church, Horticultural Society, leader in the 4-H Club, W.I. Hospital Auxiliary and Strathclair Theatre Chorus, to name a few. Phyllis drove a school bus for many years and taught Driver's Education. Phyllis was predeceased by a daughter Enid, parents and mother and father-in-law. Left to cherish her memory are her son Garry and wife Lynne, daughter Lorraine and husband David Sleep, son Brian and wife Gail. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren. Funeral service was held on March 24, 2017 at the Newdale United Church with Elgin Hall officiating. Burial will take place at the Otterburne West Cemetery on July 15, 2017 with a time of fellowship to follow.
