HOGG: Don Hogg passed away peacefully March 21st, 2017 at the age of 93 at the Minnedosa Care Home. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Donna of 58 years, daughters Julie Ross and Shelley Holyoak (Larry), granddaughters Kylee Brydon, Cassie Plasteau and Jamie Holyoak, great grandchildren Theo, Jessie and William, and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by both parents, mother and father in-law and his brothers Dave and Ross Hogg. Don was born in Chilliwack, BC and later moved to Strathclair. He farmed until 1958 and would marry Donna Stovin in 1959. They operated a restaurant in Clear Lake for three years and then moved to Winnipeg. Don was employed as an icemaker at the Thistle, Club Manager at Fort Osbourne Curling Club, The Grain Exchange and would work at Eastern Sales selling cars for many years. Many summers and weekends were spent travelling to Minnedosa so his daughters could spend time with their ponies and horses. The family moved to Minnedosa in 1978 where he would run D & M Denim until his retirement. He always loved a good round of golf with friends, gardening, fixing on anything, was a member of the Ag Society, Citizens on Patrol, caretaker of the Minor Ball fields and was a lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge. He will always be remembered for his love of his animals large and small and for his special way with children. Don will always be remembered for that smile that would light up a room! There will be no funeral service at this time. A celebration of life will be held later this fall. In lieu of flowers you may donate to a local animal shelter of your choosing.
