SMITH: Elsie, December 5, 1921-May 7, 2017. Elsie May (Tall) Smith passed peacefully away at the Tuxedo Villa Nursing Home in Winnipeg on May 7, 2017 in her 96th year. Born in Bowsman, MB, Elsie trained as an RN in Port Arthur, Ontario. On return to Manitoba, she taught for one year at Brierly School, during which time she met her future husband, Edwin. Elsie nursed in the Swan Valley, and in later years, Calgary. She enjoyed gardening, golfing, traveling, and visiting with family. Retirement years were enjoyed in Pine to Palm, Texas, Oak Lake, Brandon, and Winnipeg. Predeceased by her husband, Edwin, parents, Alf and Mamie, eldest daughter, Sherry, as well as siblings Merle, Stan, Marjorie, Aileen and Gladys. Mother to four daughters, Sherry, Linda, Dawn and Betty, Elsie is survived by three Linda Lowdon, Dawn Trask (Larry), and Betty Hann (Wayne). Nana to eleven grandchildren Kimberley Clarke, Heather Piercy, Marnie Marr (Greg), Michael Clarke, Dana Lowdon-Wiebe (Daryl), Terry Lowdon (Natalie), Corey Lowdon (Tracy), Tamara Jackson, Jeremy Trask (Kimberly), Jarret Hann (Jessica), Christine Cunningham (Aaron); and nineteen great-grandchildren, Bennett Piercy, Declan Piercy, Abigail Marr, Parker Marr, Carson Marr, Jamie Wiebe, Samantha Wiebe, Maëlle Lowdon, Annalie Lowdon, Tiana Lowdon, Megan Jackson, Sarah Jackson, Kayli Maton, Hannah Maton, Kaelan Maton, Sebastian Trask, Jadah Trask, Claire Cunningham, and Sean Cunningham. Elsie is also survived by son-in-law Gavin Clarke and brother Allan Tall (Kay). Family and friends will gather at the Niakwa Country Club, Winnipeg for a memorial service in celebration of Elsie's life on Saturday, May 20, 2017, from 1:00-4:00. Final resting place will be at the Birchwood Cemetery, Swan River, at a later date."Good-bye for now. Don't be sad, be happy, and love others." (Mom)
