BRADLEY: Following a determined fight with cancer over the past two years, Iris Bradley, beloved wife of Steve Bradley, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 with her husband and family by her side, at the Virden Health Centre at the age of 66 years. Iris was born in the Olha District and grew up on the farm with her parents and five brothers. She enjoyed gardening and canning and had gardens her whole life, right up to her passing. She also enjoyed making and sharing cabbage rolls and pies. Iris had a particular fondness for animals, and had many pets throughout the years. Iris completed her teaching degree at Brandon University, and taught for 35 years in schools in the communities of Gypsumville, Oak Lake and Virden. Her enthusiasm rubbed off and soon her pupils began a history of reaching their goals and achieving many awards; both for academics and for their sporting endeavours. It was after Iris began teaching in Oak Lake that she met and married Steve, the love of her life. The two spent almost 45 years of happy marriage together. Iris was predeceased by her parents Matt and Eileen Mychasiw and her brothers Robert and David Mychasiw. She is survived by her husband Steve; brothers: Bill (Cynamon); Larry (Wendy) and Allan (Nancy), as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Michael Raj Savarimuthu as Celebrant. Interment will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Iris' memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Westman Branch. 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8.
