KITZLER: Ellen Irene Kitzler passed away peacefully at Rideau Park Personal Care Home on June 24, 2017, at the age of 97 years. Ellen was born on June 21, 1920 in Bengough, Saskatchewan to Robert and Annie Allsopp. She attended school at Conney Island School in Bengough. After completing her schooling, she was employed as a housekeeper. Ellen married Max Robert Kitzler on March 18, 1941. Ellen and Max had two children: Wayne and Marilyn (Hornan). Ellen and Max originally farmed near Bengough. They moved to southwestern Manitoba in 1948. Max worked as a cook at the Rivers Camp and later as a backhoe owner/operator. Ellen was a homemaker throughout their marriage. After Max passed away in 1982, Ellen moved from Newdale to Rivers where she lived for 26 years before moving to Lions Manor in Brandon. Ellen enjoyed fishing, crafts and especially loved playing bingo! She very much enjoyed her family and spending time with her friends. Ellen was pre-deceased by her parents, one brother and two sisters, her husband Max, son Wayne, grandson Philip and son-in-law Gordon Hornan. She is survivedby her daughter Marilyn Hornan, daughter-in-law Hazel Kitzler, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service to celebrate Ellens life will be held at Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, on Tuesday, August 8, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Glenna Beauchamp officiating.
