CAIRNS: Mildred Rose Cairns (Scott) 1921-2017. We sadly announce that Mildred Cairns, our mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on August 1, 2017. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Russell (of 50 years), son Ronald, daughter Shirley, daughter-in-law Laurie and son-in-laws Bob Chambers and Sonny Heap. Survived by daughters Eileen Heap (Joe Kozokowsky), Rosalind Despins (Don), Terry Burns (Robert), Leslie Lowe (Bernard), Ellen Cairns (Blair Tanabe), Brenda Cairns, and Sandy Jensen (Don); survived by sons Kenneth (Anne), Orvil (Gloria), Jim (Kathy), Lyle (Diane), Brian (Shirley), and Marvin and son-in-law Frank Anson. Also survived by sister Marjorie Lee of St. Albert, Alberta and sister-in-law June Scott of Red Deer, Alberta and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mildred was born on July 10, 1921 in Portage La Prairie. She grew up and attended school in the Pathhead and South End Districts. Mildred married Russell in 1940 and lived on the farm until 1973 when they moved into MacGregor. Here she was able to join the womens institute and spent many years quilting. Many thanks to the staff at the Valleyview Care Centre for their kindness and compassion. Funeral service will take place at MacGregor United Church on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at 11:00 am with Sarah Bruer officiating. Following interment at the Austin Cemetery, a time of friendship and fellowship will be held at the Austin Community Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Society, 204 -825 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3A 1M5. Clarkes Funeral Home MacGregor in care of arrangements.
