SWEENEY: Gordon “Gord” Sweeney passed away peacefully at his residence, Fairview Personal Care Home, on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at the age of 88 years. Gord was born on February 24, 1929 in Brandon, Manitoba to parents Roy and Mary Sweeney. He attended school in Wawanesa and was then employed as a transcriber with the Navy during the Korean War. After the war, Gord worked as a bus driver for the City of Brandon for many years. Gord volunteered with many organizations throughout his life with one of his favorite being a camera volunteer with Access 12. Gord is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 63 years. He was predeceased by their daughter Valerie Jean Sweeney. As per Gord’s wishes, cremation has taken place and aprivate family interment will occur at a later date.
