NEUSTAETER: Elizabeth (Betty) Neustaeter (nee Dyck), June 21, 1945 – August 19, 2017. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Betty, who passed peacefully with her family at her side. Betty will be deeply missed by her husband Glen of 53 years, her sons Jason (Suzanne) and Scott (NancyLynne) and daughter Nancy (Bert) and her cherished grandchildren Alyssa, Sydney, Easton and Jack. Betty will be fondly remembered by her sisters Margaret, Helen (Jake) and Lois (Brian) and many nieces, nephews and special friends. She has joined her parents Bernard and Anne, sisters Elma, Sarah, Tina and brother Murray. Betty was born in Swift Current and her family relocated to Austin in 1946. She grew up in Austin where she met Glen and they married. They moved to Winnipeg and had their first child, Jason, and then relocated to Thompson for 12 years where Scott and Nancy joined the family. Betty was a devoted and busy mother giving her children many opportunities in various sports where she encouraged and cheered them on at hockey rinks, swimming pools and soccer fields. She volunteered in many of these sports programs as well as for the United Church. The family moved to Winnipeg in 1981 and found their roots in Charleswood with Betty once again getting actively involved with the church and community. Betty returned to the work force at Royal Bank in a variety of positions in personal banking. She enjoyed helping and working with people and was well liked by her customers and co-workers. Betty and Glen then moved to the acreage in Brandon for 12 years with those years welcoming the first of four grandchildren. An exceptional mother now flourished as “Gran” with endless stories and hugs for her adoring grandchildren. They settled in Wetaskiwin in 2004 for their retirement years where Betty continued to enjoy her family, gardening, her dog Sasha and becoming involved in First United Church. Betty was blessed with a kind and generous heart. She had a great sense of humor and loved to laugh and play a good joke. Betty’s world revolved around her family and she put “family first” and always had time to listen. Your family will miss your unconditional love, laughter and endless support. The family invites all to attend a celebration of Betty’s life with reception to follow at First United Church, 5115-51 Avenue, Wetaskiwin at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 2, 2017. In lieu of flowers, if you so desire, donations may be made to Wetaskiwin First United Church. Baker Funeral Chapel, Wetaskiwin in care of arrangements.
