SHAW: Larry Shaw, June 23, 1934-September 17, 2017. Larry passed away peacefully at Fairview Personal Care Home in the early hours of September17, 2017 after an ongoing struggle with COPD and Alzheimer disease. Larry was the eldest son of Edmund and Joan Shaw. He was born and raised on the home farm near Cardale and continued to farm that land until he moved to Brandon. Larry married Sylvia Jamieson on October 22, 1955. Together, they raised five children. Sylvia passed away in 1989 after a brief battle with cancer. Both Larry and Sylvia were committed to family and community. Larry was a dedicated community volunteer working tirelessly as the draw master for theCardale Bonspiel and Cardale Sports Day. He sat on many local boards and also assisted with Cardale sports teams. His family was a top priority and he and Mom instilled in all of us the importance of honesty, kindness and doing your best always with a smile. Larry married Bev Waldon in 1991 and gained a second family of children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They enjoyed travelling and became snowbirds. They especially enjoyed keeping up with all the activities of their families. Larry was predeceased his wife, Sylvia, sisters, Judy, Noel and Linda, son in law Tony, Bev's son in law Rob, and great grandson Clayton. He is survived by Bev, his siblings Carol (Ted), Gill (Marilyn) and John (Janet), He is also survived by his children Kim, Karen (Murray), Lorna (Kelly), Ed (Cathy), Sharon (Jim); Bev's children Lynn (Drew), Gerry (Christie), a total of fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Thanks to the staff at Fairview for their wonderful care of Larry. Also thanks to Campbell Funeral Home for your compassionate service. A service to celebrate Larrys life will be held at Trinity United Church in Brandon on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 1:00 pm. A private family interment will take place prior at the Shaw family farm.
