WILLIAMSON: Joseph Arthur (Art) passed away at Brandon Regional Health Centre on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at the age of 89 years. Art was born on April 26, 1928 in Brandon, Manitoba. Remaining to cherish Arts memory are his children: Linda Williamson, Lorie (Tim) Potter, Louise (Darcy) Woods, Barb (Ron) Kristjansson, Bev (Dean) Carlson, Lawrence Williamson; grandchildren: Ryan (Michelle) Wannamaker, Derek Wannamaker, Heather (Andrew) Ulmer, Andy Potter, Braden (Skylar) Woods, Nicki Woods, Cody (Cheryl) Kristjansson, Justin (Samantha) Kristjansson, Madison and Curtis Carlson, Megan, Natalie, and Kate Williamson; great-grandchildren: Lucas and Mason Wannamaker, as well as sister Estella Brown and numerous nieces and nephews. Art was predeceased by his parents William Herbert and Dorothy Gertrude Williamson, his loving wife of almost 60 years Marie, and siblings John, Bill, Alice, Norm, Laura, Evelyn, Clarence, and Jim. Art grew up in the Roseland Community attending Roseland School and Earl Oxford School in Brandon. He enjoyed baseball and curling in his younger years, and continued to enjoy watching many sports, including his grandchildren participating in their activities. He had many different jobs, and was not afraid of hard work. He worked for Brandon Creamery, drove trucks for the English family, was a hired hand for Jack Simpson and Bobby Young and drove a cement truck for Western Concrete, pouring concrete for many bridges and buildings in southern Manitoba including Knox United Church in Brandon. Art and Marie were married on July 28, 1956 at Justice, Manitoba. They purchased the family farm in South Brandon and made that home for their remaining years. They raised six children on the farm, and numerous grand children and great grand children enjoyed the farm as well. Arts son Lawrence continues to farm that original half section. Family and friends are invited to a time of Visitation at Memories Chapel, 330-18th Street North, Brandon on Sunday, September 24, 2017 between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. The Celebration of Arts Life will take place at Central United Church, 327-8th Street, Brandon, on Monday, September 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Barb Jardine officiating. Art will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Rosewood Memorial Gardens. Donations in memory of Art may be made to Western Manitoba Cancer Centre through the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation, 150 McTavish Ave. East, Brandon, R7A 2B3.
