WOOD: Hazel Wood passed away on Monday, September 25, 2017 at the Kenora Hospital. Hazel had been battling Alzheimer's for several years. She went peacefully in her sleep with her son, Lorne Wood, and her daughter, Bonnie Heidebrecht by her side. Hazel was born on March 8, 1930 in Portage La Prairie, MB. She had five siblings who have all passed. Hazel was the last of the family. In the later part of Hazel's life she lived in Oak Lake, 37 years in the area. She was an active member of the community and loved to be involved. Hazel was a town councillor, on the board of the recreation centre, involved at the golf course, worked at the newspaper and helped at the fair. She was always willing to help out at the church and other community events. Hazel was noted for her apple pie and raspberry jam. Hazel is survived by her son Lorne Wood and his wife Betty and their four children: Amber, Karen, Travis and Samantha. By her daughter Bonnie Heidebrecht and her two children: Jeremy and Jenny. There are also four great-grandchildren; Hazel loved seeing the little ones. The last five years of Hazel's life, she lived in Red Lake, Ontario, close to her son. Hazel was buried on Saturday, September 30 in Brandon, next to her husband Arthur. Messages of condolence may be placed atwww.brockiedonovan.com
