MAXIMCHUK: Grace R. Maximchuk (Suski) mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away on October 7, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Grace was born on June 11, 1942 to Mike and Helen Suski in the Minto Municipality. She had four siblings, Ralph, Joyce, Arnold and Jerry. When she was old enough she found work at local restaurant and did housekeeping in Minnedosa. On June, 9, 1963 she married Allan Maximchuk and had 3 children, Kevin, Charlene and Shane. Grace was a great cook. She ran the Beaubier Hotel Restaurant for a few years and was known for her perogies and cabbage rolls. Grace also had her own take on Chinese food. Her gift of cooking is that she did everything by taste; you could never get a clear recipe out of her. In mid 2016, she was diagnosed with cancer. She battled through chemo and radiation treatments in Winnipeg. Her nieces and nephews were a very big part of her life after the passing of her sister in the early 1970’s. She was pleased that they all visited and came together when she was in the hospital. Her sister and brother-in-law, Vickie and Bill Makowski, were a great help to Grace with her stay in Winnipeg. Grace is survived by her children Charlene, Shane (Lorna) and Kevin, her brother Arnold (Sharon) Suski and grandchildren Chasity (Jeremy) Johnson, Cody Potter, Hayleigh and Tawny Maximchuk, John Maximchuk and great grandchildren Mason, Ava, and Aubrie and many nieces and nephews that she cared about. Private service will be held at a later date.
