WILLEY: It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Charles Willey on October 6, 2017 at the age of 81. Ed was born in Brandon, Manitoba to parents Charles and Margaret Willey. He attended school in Brandon and then as a teenager was employed at the Brandon General Hospital where he worked and managed the laundry services for close to 40 years. Ed loved music and belonged to several bands. Most notably he played with The Ramblers in the early years and enjoyed singing and playing guitar at local pubs and other events. In 1993, after retiring, Ed and his wife moved to Kingsgate, BC where he continued to play music by stopping in at local establishments to jam with friends. He always had a joke or story to tell. In retirement, Ed also enjoyed his scroll saw woodwork, and going for drives up old logging roads, where he would hike a bit and indulge in his other hobby, photography. After several years out west he moved back to Manitoba with his wife to settle in Dauphin. He is survived by his wife, Ann, and his children Linda, Pam, Nanci, Michael (Brenda) and Robert as well as by his sister Jean (Roy) Walwyn. He is also lovingly remembered by his eight grandchildren, Melissa, Nichole, John, Lindsey, Meridith, Fraser, Adam and Eric, and by his nine great-grandchildren, Madison, Hailey, Joshua, Ashlyn, Isaac, Mason, Adelaide, Darcy, and Elliott. A Celebration of Life will take place on November 17, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at The East End Community Centre at 405 Park Street, Brandon, Manitoba. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing Ed, is encouraged to drop in and bring a joke or a story about him to share with friends and family. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Centre Foundation.
