MONKMAN: Beverley Dawn Monkman passed away peacefully at the Hamiota Health Centre on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at the age of 71 years. She was born in Birtle, MB on February 19, 1946. In 1957 Beverley moved to The Pas, MB with her family where she attended school. Bev had a love for music. She played by ear the piano and accordion. She always loved dancing and going to movies. She did a lot of babysitting as a youth and earned her own spending money. Upon completing school Bev was hired by MTS as a telephone operator where she made some very special friends. After several years Bev made a career change. Since she loved cooking and baking she moved further north to cook for a work camp where she met her future husband Wilfred Monkman. They married in the summer of 1973 in Selkirk. Bev throughout her life was a lovely person who had a great sense of humour and loved her family. She enjoyed her many pets. Her latest cat Freddie was the love of her life at the time of her passing. Bev was predeceased by her husband Wilfred Monkman, and parents Don and Thelma Carnegie and an infant brother. Bev will be forever loved and missed by her brother Bob Carnegie, sister Linda Smith (Lyall), brother Gord Carnegie (Louise), brother Ernie Carnegie (Lindsay), brother Gary Carnegie (Kathy), sister Lori Evans (Allan), and brother Don Carnegie (Bonnie). The family wishes to thank her friend and proctor Roberta Paddock for her love and support over the years. They also wish to thank her neighbors Eileen Kent and Linda Drake for their care and assistance as well. A graveside service will be held at the Crandall Cemetery, Crandall, MB on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. For those so desiring, donations may be made in Bevs memory to Brandon Humane Society, 2200-17th Street East, Brandon, MB, R7A 7M6.
