McCALLUM: Christina Robena McCallum Chrissie was born in Boissevain on October 16, 1932. She was the 2nd daughter of John and Katie McCallum of Croll, sister to Florence and Bob. She attended Primrose and Boissevain schools, and graduated from the Brandon Agricultural and Homemaking School. Chrissie married Bob Galbraith on October 6, 1956, and they raised 4 children on the Galbraith farm east of Hartney: Doug, Donalda, David and Doreen. In the 70s and 80s she worked outside the home as a cook at various venues and as custodian at the Hartney Hotel. Chrissie was an active community member UCW, Horticultural Society, 4-H leader, Royal Purple, curling club, correspondent for the Hartney News, and in her senior years, the Hart-Cam Centre. Her pastimes included letter writing, knitting and crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, plants and flowers, playing cards and Bingo, and Old Time Dancing. After Bob died in 1985, she moved into the town of Hartney but continued to attend any and all functions possible. In 2005, due to declining health she moved to Deloraine, and in 2015, as health continued to deteriorate, she moved to Bren-Del-Win Lodge (BDWL). She passed away on October 8, 2017 in BDWL. Chrissie is survived by her brother Bob (Maria), sisters-in-law Marj (Jim MacQuarrie), Anne (Don Scharff) and Lorna (late Mel Henuset), Doug, Donalda, David and Doreen, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren, as well as nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Hartney United Church on Friday, October 13, 2017 with Barb Alston officiating. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the RM of Grasslands, Box 399, Hartney, MB R0M 0X0 for the Hart-Cam Centre or the Hartney Centennial Hall.
