PERCIVAL: Shirley. On October 1, 2017 after six years of battling cancer, Shirley passed away at the Boissevain Health Centre. She was born in Deloraine on May 3, 1945, the second born to her parents Allen and Muriel Conner. Shirley received her public school education at Otter School and her high school education in Deloraine. As she was finishing school she met Lorne Percival and they were married January 11, 1964. Lorne and Shirley started their life together on the Percival family farm. They were fortunate to have 3 wonderful children. Debbie born in 1964, Marilyn in 1967 and Dean in 1973. During the early years Shirley worked at some of the retail stores in Deloraine, while Lorne farmed with his dad. They farmed together for 5 years until his dad passed away in 1970. They continued to farm for the next 25 years. Along with the farm they got involved in trucking for a few years. Around that time they welcomed Shirleys brother Ron and his son Shane into their home. Ron helped out with both family businesses during their stay. Lorne and Shirley finished with trucking a couple of years later in 1983. While Lorne was working on the road Shirley was busy at home looking after the farm, taking care of the house and running the kids to all their events. This gave her the title of super mom and she loved doing it. In October of 89 they moved into Deloraine to the house where Shirleys parents had lived. Soon after, they started their distilled water business called Your Health 2000 which served Deloraine and surrounding area for approximately 10 years. Shirley was also an affiliate member of the Lionelles Club which later turned into the Ladies 2000 Club. She was an avid volunteer, delivering meals on wheels, providing congregate meals, and worked for the municipal, provincial and federal elections. We can all attest to her genuine kindness which is why she was considered a great friend to so many. The strength and overall character that she showed throughout her life was something that we can all look back on and admire. Traveling was something that they really loved doing together. Two adventures that really stick out was a road trip up to Alaska 6 years ago and a 6 week trip to the Maritimes this past summer. Over the last 25 years I think we can all agree they were so fortunate to have been able to spend their winters in places like Texas and Arizona. During their stay they met so many wonderful people which turned out to be some of their dearest friends. That is a testament to what a kind, friendly and caring person she was. She would make friends and acquaintances wherever they went. As winter came to a close they would return to Manitoba when we would start to thaw out. However they didnt sit still for long, because this was the start of camping season in Canada. Some of her favorite summer activities in Manitoba were camping and fishing trips to Lake of the Prairies and Oak Lake. You could always could on her to be at your sporting events or activities because she loved watching her grandkids. She will always be remembered for her famous bread pudding at Christmas, and her pumpkin pies at Thanksgiving. Everyone was always asking for her recipes. Family get-togethers and keeping in touch with her family no matter where they were, was always very important to her. After 53 1/2 years of marriage Lorne and Shirleys family consisted of Debbie and Craig Adams, Ryan, Nycolle, and Easton Adams. Ashley, Kendall and Peyton Murphy. Marilyn and Pat Mosset, Amanda, Darren, Drew, Hayden, Avery and Eden Kostomacha and Travis Mosset. Dean, Suzanne and Jordan Percival. She will always be remembered for her amazing sense of humour and a contagious laugh that lit up the room. We all will continue to love and miss her each and every day - Until we meet again.
