GIRLING: After a good long life just over 2 months short of his 100th birthday Armer Girling passed away on December 1, 2017 in Brandon Manitoba. Born on February 11, 1918 in La Rivière Manitoba to William Wellington Girling and Hazel Blanche Girling he lived in many Manitoba places including Holland, Glenella, Oak Lake and Shoal Lake. Predeceased by his beloved wife Mary, he is survived by his children Carol, Darlene and Bill (Shannon), grandchildren David (Nicola), Paul (Dianne) and Mary (Hector), step-grandchildren Annie, Inger (Atle) and Marie (Ryan), grandchildren Joshua, Jonah, Adam, Haily, Erika, Regen and Anders, his sister Jean Hamilton and brother Don (Freida) Jeffrey as well as several nieces and nephews. Following his return home from Service he continued to serve his communities as Postmaster for 34 1/2 years. He enjoyed a long and active retirement with golf, curling, Legion, Eastern Star and Masonic activities. A voracious reader he was a well-informed man of intellect who could converse on many subjects and had many opinions he would readily share. In his long and rich life he impacted many people in positive ways, perhaps most notably his family both nuclear and extended. Without question his legacy lives on and for that the world is a better place. A private internment will take place. The family invites all to join them to celebrate a life well-lived on Friday, December 15th at 2:30 p.m. at the Neepawa Knox United Church Fellowship Hall. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Brandon Regional Health Authority Palliative Care Unit or War Amps Manitoba. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.raesfs.ca.Raes Funeral Service of Shoal Lake and Erickson are in care of arrangements. (204) 759-2160
