SCHROEDER: After yet another courageous battle with cancer it is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ruth Dieanna Schroeder (nee Harder) of Altona, MB formerly of Souris, MB at the Altona Hospital on December 20th, 2017. Ruth is survived by her children, son Darren (Nichole) and their children Gracelyn, Eli and William, and daughter Teri (Richie) and their children Macy and Lane. She will be lovingly remembered by three sisters and two brothers; three brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Erwin and her parents, Pete and Anna Harder. Ruth was born on September 6, 1957 in Manitou MB and grew up in Haskett, Elm Creek, Altona and Gretna. She enjoyed taking care of others and spent most of her life doing this, whether it was her younger brothers and sisters or working with children as an Educational Assistant. Ruth was a quiet person who enjoyed quiet times with her family and friends and helping others. She preferred to be in the background doing what needed to be done. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Altona United Church. A private family interment will take place prior to the service at the Blumenort Cemetery. In memory of Ruth donations may be made to the Altona and District Palliative Care or to the G.G. and Tina Schroeder Scholarship Fund at Mennonite Collegiate Institute.
