BLACK: Phyllis Mabel Ellen Black passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28th, 2018 at Fairview Home in Brandon with her daughters by her side. She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Kathy (Melvin) Cords, and Debbie (Rick) Collingwood, two grand-daughters, Tammy Chaput and Bobby-Jo Danielson, step grand-daughter, Lisa Van De Kerckhove, great grand-daughters, Chelcie, Dylin and Ella, step grand-daughter, Elena and step grandson, Domique. Phyllis was born on September 24, 1930 to Archie and Katie Leitch in Grandview, MB. She received her education at Rose Ridge School in Grandview. Phyllis met her husband, Harold Black, while working at the farm of Hunter Aiken. She married Harold May 16, 1951. They lived in Grandview, Dauphin and then to Brandon in 1961. Phyllis worked at the egg station in Grandview, Dauphin, was a home-maker, seamstress,caregiver, hairdresser, babysitter, great cook and baker, home care worker and landlady. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband Harold, her sister Effie, four brothers, Theadore, Gilbert, Angus and Duncan. She is survived by her sister Ann (Ed) Skomorski, Gladys Thorsen, and Lynda Barnett, sister-in-law Gertie Black and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom will be forever in our hearts. We know that you are with dad and a whisper away. Thank-you to the wonderful staff at Fairview Home, for their care and support over the last 7 years. A Celebration of Life will be at the Brockie Donovan Chapel, 332-8th Street, on Friday, March 16, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Phyllis may be made to the Fairview Home, 1351-13th St, Brandon, MB, R7A 4S6.
