CHASTKO: It is with deep sorrow our family announces the passing of Pamela Chastko at the age of 59. With family by her side, Pam passed away at the Russell Health Centre on March 18, 2018. Pam was born in Russell, MB on January 25, 1959, the fourth child of seven children born to Paul and Pauline Dietrich. Pam grew up on the family farm in Dropmore, MB where she enjoyed working alongside her Dad with the cattle. She spent many happy Sunday afternoons at Asessippi Park with extended family and friends playing baseball and enjoying picnics. Pam had several jobs after graduating from Roblin Goose Lake High School in 1977. She moved to Shoal Lake where she met and married her husband Lawrence Chastko on July 4, 1987. Pam and Lawrence enjoyed 22 years together on their farm in the Kelloe area, where they raised beef cattle and operated a family dairy farm. They worked hard and loved when family or friends would drop in for coffee and a visit. Pam enjoyed the peace and quiet of country life and the companionship of her faithful pets. Pam worked as the District Clerk (advisor and bringer of homemade baking) with MB Conservation and Natural Resources in the Shoal Lake office. She worked with many great people over her 17 years and spoke fondly of them all. It was six of these past work mates and friends, whom she chose to carry her to her final resting place next to Lawrence, who passed away on October 7, 2009. Pam was a very loving, sincere, honest, trusting, quick witted and caring person. She had family, and very dear friends who she considered family, help her through months of failing health while she still lived in her home as well as during her stay in the hospital. Pam was very much a family oriented person. She hosted several family functions and was happiest when we were all gathered together enjoying fun stories of her nieces and nephews adventures. Pam loved to laugh; it was one of her most endearing qualities. She gave her love to family with no conditions and it was returned to her ten times over. She was fondly referred to as the General, but it was a term of endearment and total respect. We will all miss her natural smile and happy spirit. Pam was predeceased by her husband Lawrence Chastko, father Paul Dietrich, sister Phyllis Cornelius, brothers-in-law Rodney Mushumanski and Terry Miller and step-father Ernie Sudbury. Pam will lovingly be remembered by her Mother, Pauline Sudbury of Brandon; brother, Patrick (Mae) Dietrich of Roblin and their family Nolan (Carrie), Drew, Dara, Jan (Nick) Van den Hurk, Torie and Feana; sister, Paulette Mushumanski of Russell and her family Ryan and Ashley; sister, Patricia (Earl) Spraggs of Shoal Lake and their daughter Lindsay (Blair) Neal; brother-in-law, Dale Cornelius of Churchbridge and his family Hillary (Nigel Stormon), Jordan and Avery; sister Pearle Dietrich (Mark Blelloch) of Brandon and their family Chris Miller, Jaxon, and Sarah Blelloch; sister, Penny (Kevin) Schappert of MacNutt and their family Paylyn and Prairie. Pam was laid to rest on March 22, 2018 at St. Helens Roman Catholic Cemetery in Shoal Lake, MB.
