BRADLEY: Lorne Alexander Bradley, husband of Janet, entered into rest at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg Manitoba with family by his side on Monday, April 16, 2018. Lorne was born on December 8, 1936 to Carl and Lexa (Richardson) at home on their family farm, 15-16-21 SW which would become his home for the next 69 years. He attended Penrith, a one room school house for one year, and then completed his schooling in Newdale. At the age of 16 Lornes older brother David a pilot with RCAF was killed in a plane crash in France, leaving Lorne to carry on the family farm and auction business with his father. He raised cattle and always had a soft spot for animals. He worked hard, loved farming and being on the tractor during seeding and harvest. He hated stones and was very happy to have a stone picker after years of using a stone boat. After a long days auctioneering he enjoyed socializing with friends and clients long into the night. Lorne enjoyed baseball, curling, and was huge community supporter. He was a long time member of the Newdale curling club, served many years on the hall board, as well as the Manitoba Pool Elevators board. He coached all of his kids in baseball and softball, and spent a great deal of time behind the plate umpiring, a natural spot for an old time catcher. Umpiring was something he continued to do even after his children were all grown. He enjoyed cub camp with his two boys, summers at the lake, driving the boat for waterskiing, and starting the evening fire. He travelled to many figure skating competitions, and became a strong supporter of a sport he grew to love. He knew the difference between a salchow and a lutz and a double and a triple. He paid attention, was observant, listened more than he talked, and put everyone at ease. He enjoyed many years of warm winter travel with Janet and made many friends at their winter home in Palm Springs, California. There he volunteered his auction skills for their annual fundraiser, and was also willing to assist in the kitchen for many social events. He enjoyed being part of the Safari Park shuffleboard club and especially the out of park tournaments. He loved traveling to and from Palm Springs and enjoyed exploring different routes each time. He was predeceased by his parents, brother David, sister Sabra, brothers-in-law Harvey Gould, Lionel Smithson, Terry McCormick, and nephew Shawn McCormick. Left to treasure his memory are his loving wife Janet, children, Mark, Brent and Stacey, grandchildren, Landen, Brendon, and Kaylie, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2:00 p.m. at Newdale United Church with Elgin Hall officiating. If friends so desire donations may be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Canada or the Canadian Diabetes Association. Remembrances and condolences may be shared at raesfs.caRaes Funeral Service of Shoal Lake and Erickson are in care of the arrangements. 204-59-2160
