ROBINSON: Mrs. Ruth Robinson of Tilston, MB passed away peacefully at the Melita Health Centre on April 27, 2018 at the age of 84. Ruth was born on December 11, 1933 on her familys homestead in the R.M. of Stanley near Morden, MB to Fred and Margaret (Klassen) Kurtz. Ruth was the fifth of nine children. A few years after Ruths birth the Kurtz family moved to the Turtle Mountain area and then later to the Coulter area. When Ruth was a young woman she went to work in the household on a farm near Waskada, MB. While there she met a young farmhand, Fred Robinson, who she fell for. The two married on December 2, 1957 and moved to the Tilston area where they bought a farm. The couple was soon blessed with their first child, Hugh, their second child, Wanda, came soon after, followed by Eddy and then Rosalie. Ruths days were filled with taking care of her children while her husband farmed. Years later Ruths grandchildren came along, who she cared for very much. Ruth enjoyed cooking for her family and tending to her garden. Even as the years past and her health began to fail, no one could set foot in her house without being offered food numerous times. Ruth would also make sure to have a large enough garden planted each year so she could give away food to each of her children, grandchildren, friends and neighbours. She also loved flowers. Each spring there would be planters planted and Ruth would go on about how she couldnt wait for her tulips to bloom. It was also guaranteed if you didnt know what to get Ruth for a gift, you could buy her flowers and shed tell everyone who stepped foot in her house about them. Ruth was a very generous person and did not want anyone in her family to go in need. If you even mentioned you were running low on socks or had broken a few kitchen cups, you could guarantee Ruth would be on it. She would get out the Sears catalogue to order or ask family members in Brandon to run to Canadian Tire to pick items up. It would be guaranteed you would get whatever you needed (and a couple of spares). Ruth loved visiting, and even as her family spread out across the country she would keep in contact with her siblings with talks on the phone. In later years as Ruths health began to fail she would spend time in the hospital, but through the care of her family and the homecare system Ruth was able to live out her final days at home. She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Margaret; daughter-in-law, Pam Robinson; two brothers, Wilfred (Helen) Kurtz and Art Kurtz; two sisters, Emily (Ivan) Arsenault and Lily (Clayton) Mee. Ruth is survived by her husband, Fred; two sons, Hugh (children, Nicholas and Ashley) and Eddy; two daughters, Wanda Currie (son, Brendan) and Rosalie; sister, Freda (Marcel) Arsenault; three brothers, Walter Kurtz, Danny (Delores) Kurtz, and Elmer (Armande) Kurtz; sister-in-law, Marilyn Kurtz; and numerous nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate Ruths life was held on May 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Tilston United Church, with Reverend Heather Sandilands officiating. Interment followed at the Tilston Cemetery. The Robinson family would like to Dr. Jennifer Hammel and the nurses at the Virden Health Centre, as well as the nurses at the Melita Health Centre, for the care they provided to Ruth. The family would also like to thank the homecare ladies who cared for Ruth over the years. The Robinson family would also like to thank all those who sent cards, flowers or dropped off food, they are appreciative of everyone who has been with them throughout this hard time. The family would also like to thank the Tilston ladies who provided the lunch for Ruths service and Redpath Funeral Home for the lovely job they did. Donations in Ruths name can be given to the Tilston Cemetery Fund, Box 54, Tilston, MB, R0M 2B0 or to the Melita Health Auxiliary Association, Box 881, Melita, MB, R0M 1L0.
