HAGE: Tetje (Tet) Hage (Postma). Tet passed away peacefully at Brandon Regional Health Centre surrounded by her family on May 4, 2018, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Kollumerzwaag, The Netherlands September 3, 1929. She came from a very large family and family was the most important thing in her life. She met her husband, Marinus Hage, during the Second World War when the province he was living in was flooded during the German Occupation and they had to evacuate. They were married on July 15, 1952 and shortly thereafter they immigrated to Canada to begin a new and exciting chapter of their lives. After docking at Pier 21 in Halifax, NS, they boarded a train for the long trip to Portage la Prairie, MB. During that time, they had three children, all under the age of two. In 1957, they moved to Douglas, MB, where they had one more child. The family was complete, 2 boys, 2 girls. Dad worked as a farm labourer most of his life and Mom dedicated her life to her children and she did an amazing job. When we were in school, she would do housekeeping for neighbours for extra money. She was so proud of all of her childrens accomplishments. In the late 70s, Dad got a job as a Custodian at Elton Collegiate in Forrest, MB. The children were grown and had families of their own and she took her 1st real job, working part-time with Dad at Elton Collegiate before retiring in the early 80s. Mom adored spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always big hugs for everyone. Mom and Dad both loved to travel. They returned to Holland 16 times over the years, they travelled to New Zealand 3 times to visit her sister, numerous trips to BC and Ontario to visit family and friends along the way. They also bought a travel trailer and enjoyed camping in Killarney, MB with their daughter and family throughout the summer. Tet is survived by her four children, seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, her parents and numerous brothers and sister. The Funeral Service was held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with Arlene Robertson officiating, followed by a reception and private family interment at Madford Cemetery in Douglas, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 415-1st Street, Brandon, MB, R7A 2W8.Messages of condolencemay be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com
