WILLDEY: With people who loved and cared for her, Doris Mary Willdey, passed away in her 100th year at her residence, Hillcrest Place on Sunday, June 10, 2018. Doris was the only daughter born to William and Jennie Cowan of Winnipeg, MB. At the age of eleven years, Doris and her parents were moved to Moose Jaw, SK. Four years later they were transferred to Regina, SK. Completing her education and taking a business course, she was ready for the business world. In the late thirties jobs were not very plentiful so she enlisted in the Military, taking training in Regina, SK. Upon completion she was posted to D.H.Q. M.D.10 in Winnipeg, MB and was employed as a clerk-steno in the Internment Operation Department. Following her discharge she came to live in Brandon, MB. She loved all sports, taking part in many. She was employed in the retail field working at Eaton’s and later at McCallum Jewellers, where she found serving the public a wonderful challenge. Doris was a Charter Member of Trinity United Church, Brandon, MB and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 3. Doris was predeceased by her husband William Reginald in July of 1988. She leaves to mourn her daughter Diane Lynn Muirhead (Alan) and two granddaughters Kayla Lynn Snow and Jennifer Danielle Boxall. At Doris’ request no service will be held. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be interred in her family plot in Regina at a later date. A very heart felt thank you to the staff at Hillcrest Place for taking such good care of Doris for many years. If friends so desire donations in memory of Doris may be made to Hillcrest Place Personal Care Home, 930 26th Street, Brandon, MB, R7B 2B8 or to a charity of choice.
