WILTSEY: It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of our Mother, Helen Barbara Wiltsey (nee Ramsay) on February 5, 2018, after a lengthy stay at Fairview Home in Brandon. Helen was born the fourth child of eight to Alex and Helen (Nellie) Ramsay in the Cardale district. She had a busy, happy life living on the family farm, minding her younger siblings, sewing, and helping with the farm animals. She enjoyed her school years, participating in many sports and field days with her sisters and friends. During her teen years she spent some time in Prince Rupert as her father was enlisted during the war years in his Scottish trade of "Ship building" for the Royal Canadian Navy. On her return to Cardale she went to Normal School in Brandon and took a position teaching at Marney School. In 1946 she married Alan Matheson Wiltsey and they started a family Barbara-Allan, Russell (Norma), Allana (Ross) and Ian (Bev). They resided in the Moline-Cardale District farming until 1979 when they retired to Hamiota and enjoyed meeting a whole new host of wonderful friends. Helen was a bright, energetic person who took great pride and enjoyment in homemaking, cooking, sewing, gardening and working on countless community projects. She was a member of the UCW and enjoyed her time in the church choirs. Later in life she and Allan enjoyed golf, travel, spending time in Victoria, and enjoying their many friends and family. Most of all Helen was a loving daughter, wife, parent, grand-parent and friend and was always willing to lend a hand. Besides her children and their spouses, Helen is survived by her grandchildren Jana, Jamie, Ward, Shea, Matt, Kaley, Shelly, Kerry, and Leona and great grandchildren Olivia, Rocco, Aidan, Hudson, Rylee, Christopher, Shea, Vaughn, Evan, Kale, Kaden, Xander, Hayley and Elle.  She was predeceased by her husband, parents, an infant daughter, siblings Florence, Isla, Sheila, Jean, Bill and Tom, and her grandson Brayden and numerous nieces and nephews. Her sister Marion passed away shortly after Helen's passing. A short graveside service will be held at Marney Cemetery, R.M. of Oakview, MB on Friday, August 10, 2018 at 1:00 pm with a reception following at Dora’s Café, Cardale, MB. The family invites you to join them. The family extends our heartfelt thanks to all the staff at Fairview home for their exceptional care and thoughtfulness. Special thanks to Campbell Funeral home. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba or to the charity of your choice.
