STEVENS: James Rollin Stevens, 82, quietly passed away January 20, 2018 at his home in White Rock ,B.C. He leaves his wife of 61 years Ella ( King) Stevens; their four children Brent, Terry ,Shelley and Ron including spouses, 11 grandchildren,16 great grandchildren and only remaining brother Fletcher. The son of Fletcher and Grace Stevens, Jim the youngest of 6 children was born in Deloraine Manitoba. In his early years Jim enjoyed life in the small prairie town, spending most of his time playing sports and spending summers at Lake Metigoshe. Jim married Ella in 1956 and after a few years in Deloraine decided to move to Pipestone to begin raising his family. During this time Jim owned and operated a service station which later included an Allis Chalmers farm equipment dealership. In 1973 Jim moved his young family north to Hay River Northwest Territories and began working for his brother in law Russell King who was expanding his Ford dealership. Jim travelled the North promoting parts sales for the dealership. In 1980 Jim’s lifelong passion for boating and the opportunity to work with his brother Fletcher at Trend Boat Manufacturers and then later Spartan Agencies, motivated Jim to move the family to Richmond B.C. where he continued to work for Spartan Agencies as a factory rep until his retirement in 2000. Jim and Ella moved to their retirement home in White rock B.C. in 2001 where he enjoyed gardening and fixing things around the house. Jim took pride in his work and truly relished the friends he made over the years, but Jim’s true measure is what he meant to his family and he will be missed.
