JONES: Victor Harry Jones passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 22, 2018; less than a month before his 97th birthday. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Verna, and his son, Donnie. He leaves behind his daughter Barb Jones (Rob Lee); granddaughters: Kathy Blais (Dominic) and Jill Munday (Sean), and great-grandchildren: Geneviève; Calum; William; Myra; and Michael. He was known affectionately as “Jonesy” to the rest of his family: June and Bob Grabowski, Ken and Di Montgomery, Loree Smith, Kerri Grabowski, Susan Kessler, David Montgomery, and their families. Victor also had a close circle of friends whom he treated as family, including the staff at the Fairview Personal Care Home and many others he met throughout the years. Victor was well-known for his sense of humour, his sharp mind, and his many talents: gardening, baking, and woodworking, just to name a few. He loved the simple things in life: spending time at Ditch Lake, playing cards, watching baseball, and filling pantries and freezers with homemade preserves and butter tarts. He loved to laugh, and he loved to make everyone around him laugh too. He was a World War II veteran, a devoted husband, and an inspiration to many. Victor lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed every moment he spent with family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of laughter, recipes, stories, and memories that will not be forgotten. A service for close family and friends will be held at Brandon Cemetery on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Victor may be made to The Salvation Army, 9 Princess Ave. E., Brandon, MB, R7A 1R8.Messages of condolencemay be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com
