SPROSTON: Marion Elizabeth Auntie. It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Auntie on Sunday, October 21st at BRHC surround by her family. She was predeceased by her husband George, nephew Wes, 4 brothers and 1 sister. Marion was born in Brandon on November 8th, 1919 to Ellen and Ted Hill. Her father owned Ted Hills Meat Market where she worked for several years alongside her brother Charlie. She also enjoyed working as a telephone operator at Manitoba Telephone on 9th Street. She was a girl guide and then worked with the Brownies at the Presbyterian Church and remained with the guiding movement as a member of the Trefoil Guild. Playing the piano every day brought her such great joy and peace. She played for guiding banquets as well as the Anglican services at the various retirement homes and nursing homes. She also volunteered at Fairview in the recreation department for many years until she was in her 90s. She would help complete the many craft items for the craft sales. When her sister died leaving 4 young children, Auntie would bring the children together at the cottage for the summer. Swimming lessons were always on the agenda. Marion was also the guardian for Wes and Ron. The cottage at Sandy Lake was a special place for Marion and her husband George since the early 1940s. Everyone on the beach knew Auntie. She loved boat rides, fishing, walking along the beach and tracks and watching the lightning storms come across the lake. There was always a jigsaw puzzle on the table at the lake and everyone just couldnt resist putting in a few pieces. A Crib board and a deck of cards were always around at her house and cottage. We all enjoyed playing Crib with her even if she did beat us occasionally. She also enjoyed cooking big meals and gardening just to be outdoors. Auntie will be greatly missed by her family Georgina Southall (children Kara and Trevor), Edith (John) Markmann (children Jennifer, Daniel and Heather), Ron Southall (children Brandon, Keegan), Ken Southall (Sue), Joan (Irwin) Harlton (children Jocelyn and Keith), Wayne (Sharon) Hill, Leslie Hill (children Ty, Derek), and Bette Ann (Hugh) Hodgkinson (Mark).Messages of condolence may be placed at www.brockiedonovan.com
