BROWN: Bertha Esther Elizabeth Brown (nee Elliott) passed away at the Wawanesa Personal Care Home Thursday, January 24, 2019 at the age of 103 years, Bertha Esther Elizabeth Brown (nee Elliott), of Wawanesa MB. Esther was born April 28, 1915 to Almon and Minnie Elliott (nee Carrothers) and attended school in Methven, Wawanesa and Holland MB. Upon completion of business courses in Brandon in 1934, she worked for Wawanesa Mutual for a few years then was employed with Union Carbide Canada in Toronto for 33 years, retiring in 1975. She married Tom Henry of Ontario and together enjoyed traveling Ontario with Tom's golf supply business. After Tom's passing, she moved back to Wawanesa and married Art Brown. Esther enjoyed volunteer work and was extensively involved with genealogy covering the Elliott and Carrothers families. Esther leaves to mourn her passing her stepchildren Rick and wife Dorothy Brown of Brandon and their children Ian (Tracey) and Erin (Keith) Gessner and families, Bev Brown of Dundas, ON, nephew Neil Kitson of Vancouver and children Frances, Joe, Heather and Alex and their mother Hilary, as well numerous extended relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her first husband Tom Henry (1985) and second husband Art Brown (2003), brother Wilfred (Florence) Elliott, sisters Emma (Fred) Thornborough, Marjorie (Cliff) Kitson and nephew Bill Thornborough. A Celebration of Esther's life will be held on Friday, February 1, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Wawanesa United Church with Rev. Harvey Hurren and Shirley McBurney officiating. A family interment will take place in the Methven Cemetery.
