KIRK: Dennis Wayne Kirk passed away on November 15, 2018 in Hamiota District Health Centre at age 73 surrounded by the love of his family. Denny was born on July 7, 1945 in Hamiota Hospital, the third child of Roy and Gladys Kirk. He grew up on the family farm with older siblings Delmar and Donna, and younger brother, Douglas. Denny had a happy childhood on the farm where a love of animals and nature blossomed as did a love of farming. He liked school and loved sports, especially basketball, hockey, and baseball. He would often share stories of his friendships through sports and sometimes his sporting achievements. After his high school graduation, Denny obtained his automotive mechanics licence from Red River College in Winnipeg. This career choice served him well throughout his life working at garages in Thompson and Hamiota. He did change hats a couple of times; first one was teaching power mechanics for 2 years in Swan Valley Regional Secondary School and the other being a welder for the last 25 years. Denny began his welding career in Glenboro at Norberts Manufacturing, where he worked for 6 years. At this time Denny made many good friends from Glenboro, Baldur, and Wawanesa. He later found a welding position closer to home at Springland Manufacturing in Rivers, where his goal was to reach 20 years. This would have happened in May 2019. He enjoyed the company of his co-workers who kept him young. The main priority in Dennys life was always his family. On October 5, 1968 Denny and Sheila (Dale) were married and together raised three children: Shannon Fay, Kimberly Denise and Darren Wayne. Over the years Denny loved watching Shannon play volleyball; Kim playing ringette and coaching Darren in hockey and baseball. Then along came Derek, Drayson and Karen into our family fold and we couldnt have been happier. Six adored grandchildren completed our family. When it came to his kids or grandkids, no request was ever too much or couldnt be done. It gave Denny great pleasure in being able to help them out in any way possible. Denny enjoyed the company of family and good friends. He was an avid reader, liked watching sports on T.V. and following his grandkids in hockey, basketball, baseball and soccer. He loved spending time at our cabin at Shoal Lake and puttering in his shop on the farm. Denny was a very patient man, warm and caring and always seeing the good in others. He took each day in stride, liked to live a simple life, and material things did not matter to him. His family was his life. Denny was predeceased by his parent Roy and Gladys Kirk; brothers Delmar and Douglas; great niece Meghan Bomford; and parents-in-law Lorne and Fay Dale. Denny is lovingly remembered by his wife Sheila; children Shannon (Drayson) Cowan, Kim (Derek) Patterson, Darren (Karen) Kirk; grandchildren Jayden and Jamie Patterson; Reece and Ty Cowan, Jon and Jack Kirk; sister Donna (Jack) Bomford; sisters-in-law Joan Kirk, Barbara Dale, Bev (Doug) Kyle; brother-in-law Garry (Sally) Dale, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. A Celebration of Life was held on November 22, 2018 in the Hamiota Community Centre with Linda Clark officiating. Campbell Funeral Home of Hamiota, MB was in care of arrangements. He never looks for praisesHes never one to boastHe just goes on quietly workingFor those he loves the most. His dreams are seldom spokenHis wants are very fewAnd most of the time his worriesWill go unspoken too.Hes there A firm foundationThrough all our storms of lifeA sturdy hand to hold ontoIn times of stress and strife.A true friend we can turn toWhen times are good or badOne of our greatest blessings,The man that we call Dad.
