CRUX: Verne Crux (nee Holmstrom) of Brandon, MB passed away May 6, 2019 in the Minnedosa Health Centre at the age of 89 years. Verne was predeceased by her husband Peter Crux, brother Ernie Holmstrom, sisters Helen Holmstrom, Elvira Holmstrom, Margaret Gunnarson nee Holmstrom and sons-in-law Robert Bell and Donald Reimer. She is survived by her son Martin Crux, daughters Candice Bell-Reimer and Jeanette (Terry) Prosser, grandson Tayler and great-grandchildren Ashton and Anders along with her brother Gordon Holmstrom and sister Hilda Carlson plus numerous nieces and nephews. She was born October 7, 1929 on the family farm in Onanole, MB. She attended school in Onanole. MB and then completed her last year of high school in Brandon, MB. She won many prizes for her singing and dancing. She then moved to Flin Flon, MB where she met and married Peter Crux, who was a dashing ex-RAF pilot turned bush pilot. They had three children and lived in Manitoba, Quebec, Newfoundland, Ontario and N.W.T. before retiring back to Onanole, MB. After her husband Peter’s death, Verne moved to Brandon, MB where she remained till just a week before her passing. A funeral service was held on May 11, 2019 in Whites-Minnedosa Funeral Chapel, Minnedosa, MB.
