BAYES: Ken Bayes, December 29th, 1939-June 29th, 2019. Kenneth Raymond Bayes (the Jewish Cowboy), passed away on June 29, 2019 in Rapid City, Manitoba at the age of 79 years. Ken was born in Minnedosa, Manitoba to Raymond and Isabell Bayes. Ken went to school in Rapid City and spent the majority of his life in the Rapid City Community. On February 15th 1964, Ken married Myrna Sibbald, now deceased, and had three sons; Kevin, Steven and Robyn. Ken worked in several jobs throughout his life including the mines in Churchill, Manitoba, Imperial taxi, Samples Trucking, Brandon Stockyards, Morris Rod Weeder, Rolling River School Division to name a few. Ken retired from Rolling River School Division in Minnedosa in 2005. Despite retiring he continued as a spare bus driver until 2018. Throughout his life Ken volunteered in several community organizations such as the Rapid City 4H (Beef and Horses), the Rapid City Agriculture Society (Honorary member) and the Rapid City Youth Rodeo. Kens passion in life other than his family was horses. He was involved in several trail riding events throughout Manitoba. He was a horse trainer, involved in Team Penning, breeder of Paint Horses and Registered Quarter Horses. In the late years of his life, Ken enjoyed driving a team of horses providing hay rides for the Westman Dreams for Kids, weddings and caroling in Rapid City and surrounding communities. Ken is survived by his sons, Kevin, Steven (Carla), Robyn (Jennifer); seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren; brother Gordon (Lorna) and sister Sharon (Clarence). Ken is also leaving behind Yvonne Grant (partner) who has four children; Brenda, Gordon, Robbie, Greg May and their respected families. Ken will be sorely missed by his family and friends as he had a warm heart and a magnetic personality. A viewing to take place at Whites Funeral home, Minnedosa on Wednesday, July 3rd from 6:00-7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 5th at 1:00 pm, at the Rapid City Legion Hall with Elgin Hall officiating. Interment to follow at the Rapid City Cemetery. A celebration of Ken will be held at the Legion Hall immediately after the interment.
