KILFOYLE: Joan Kathleen Hannah (Smythe) passed away peacefully at Fairview Personnel Care Home in Brandon on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the age of 94 years. Joan was born on the farm in the RM of Elton, the fourth of five children born to Amelia and Linton Smythe. She attended the Gourlay School and married Robert Kilfoyle in 1950. During the early years of her marriage, she worked at the Singer Sewing Machine and later, for 15 years, at the Woolco department store in Brandon. Joan was a member of St. Matthews Cathedral and enjoyed being with her family and working on many hand crafted projects. She was an accomplished seamstress. Joan was a devoted mother to Dennis and Debbie and grandma to Adam, Rebecca and Jesse. Also left to remember her are, sister Betty Lacey, sisters- in- law Lillian Tarr, Joan Kilfoyle, Lucille Robertson and Isabel Naswell and many nieces and nephews. Joan was predeceased by her husband of 64 years Robert Kilfoyle, sister Doreen Jenner, brother Samuel and Wentworth Smythe, brothers-in-law Bill Lacey, Leslie Jenner, Melvin, Howard, Clifford and Milford Kilfoyle, Russ Tarr, Harry McVannel, Larry Naswell and Bill Ross, and sisters-in-law Margaret McVannel and Alice Ross. A funeral service was held at St. Matthews Cathedral on Thursday, June 04, 2019 at 11:00 am with the very Rev. Don Bernhardt officiating. Interment followed at Brandon Cemetery. Active Pallbearers were Ken Jenner, Justin Jenner, Jack Leonard, Brent Tarr, Robert McVannel and Jesse Christianson.
