McARTHUR: Linda Louise McArthur (Peeler). It is with heavy hearts that Lindas family announces her passing on September 25, 2019 at Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg surrounded by family after her short courageous health battle. Linda will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughters, Jennifer (Cory), Jill (Ted), grandchildren Haley and Kole. She is survived by her beloved sister Marge, two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, as well as many nieces and nephews. Linda was predeceased by her husband Chuck, parents Daisy (Hunt) and Elmer Peeler, brothers George and James. A caring, kind and supportive daughter, sister, wife, mom, grandma and friend put everyones needs ahead of her own. With her generous heart and kind soul she made everyone feel special and welcome. She was truly an amazing lady. We will cherish many joyful memories, her silly charade antics with the kids as well as the funny things she would say without missing a beat. Dear to Haleys heart will be the summers spent in Souris with grandma and grandpa, while Kole will remember all the special smiles and squeezes meant just for him. Linda was born November 30, 1944 in Birtle, Manitoba where she spent her early years helping her mom around the old farmhouse and getting into mischief with Marge, George and Jimmy. After Grade 12 in Birtle, she went on to nursing college at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. In a recent hospital stay, she shared with one of the nurses her favourite part of nursing the operating room. After receiving her nursing degree, she married Chuck McArthur in 1965 also of Birtle. They moved to Souris, Manitoba in 1966 where Linda nursed at Souris Hospital, raised two daughters and built a community of friends. Lindas dedication, work ethic and pride were evident in all that she did. Her 37 years spent nursing and her many friendships are reflective of that. She loved to bake, garden, read, travel and spend time with family and friends. The family wishes to thank all those who visited mom and supported us through this difficult time. Special thanks to Wendy, Dr. Lambda, his team and all the healthcare personnel for their exceptional care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lindas memory to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or to the Canadian Cancer Society. In accordance with Lindas wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service was held Thursday, October 3, 2019 at St. Pauls United Church, Souris, Manitoba. Interment was in the Birtle Cemetery. Kowalchuks Funeral Home, Souris, in care of arrangements. Hello to Linda's family - I was doing some Peeler research and came across this obituary. My dad and Elmer were cousins. I remember visiting with them in Birtle many times and they visiting us in Congress. I also remember meeting Linda a couple of times. I remember her kind and gentle warmth. Im sure you are missing her very much. Even though time goes on, the hole in your heart still remains. Hugs to you all. - Posted by: Janet Robinson (cousin) on: May 13, 2022
